Committee Discussion of Possible Recommendations to the House of Representatives - Recommendations Adopted

Chair McCormick requested that the final report include an overview of all committee meetings. She reviewed possible recommendations the committee may make regarding the complaint. Representative Soper suggested that the committee recommend a letter be sent to Representative Weinberg, stating that guilt was not established, but that probable cause suggests that he engaged in behavior unbecoming of a legislator. Representative Mabrey suggested that the recommendations include training.

The committee discussed including training in the recommendations and whether there is enforcement authority for that recommendation.

Chair McCormick noted that the committee appeared to be recommending that House Leadership send a formal letter of admonition to Representative Weinberg. She discussed the allegations related to campaign finance violations, and whether those should be addressed in the letter, and the committee discussed this issue.

The committee discussed including in its final report a discussion of the campaign finance allegations and the reasons why the committee did not find probable cause on those allegations.

Motion Recommend that House leadership send a letter of admonition to Representative Weinberg about the Brown Palace and master key allegations, stating that this behavior is unbecoming of a legislator, and expressing a desire for behavior change in the future.
